About the Opportunity:
A reputable and growing structural engineering firm located in Mission Viejo, CA is actively hiring a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) to step into the role of Assistant Project Manager. This is a great opportunity for an ambitious structural engineer who is ready to take on greater leadership responsibilities while continuing to hone their technical skills. The role involves managing project workflows, mentoring junior staff, and coordinating closely with clients and internal teams to deliver high-quality structural solutions.
Role Responsibilities:
Oversee structural engineering projects across all stages—from design development to final delivery
Guide and support a small project team of engineers and drafters (1–3 people)
Conduct structural analysis and develop calculations, construction drawings, and technical specifications
Review and manage project documentation, including contracts, scope statements, and change orders
Collaborate with clients, architects, contractors, and internal team members to ensure clarity and progress
Maintain focus on deadlines, budget adherence, and engineering accuracy
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering with a structural emphasis
California P.E. license in Civil or Structural Engineering
At least 3 years of experience in structural design for commercial, educational, residential, or renewable energy projects
Prior exposure to leading project teams or managing design efforts
Skilled in AutoCAD (2015 or later), Enercalc, and RISA
Proficient with tools like Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Bluebeam
