Job Description:

Achieves an efficient technical infrastructure, which includes appropriate tools to support production migrations.

Develops and supports Oracle MongoDB and Postgres databases, supports replication.

Monitors and optimizes Oracle database performance and capacity planning.

Troubleshoots database issues; maintain database systems availability and scalability.

Develops and optimizes database design for new applications.

Develops and maintains jobs for monitoring and reporting various aspects of system performance, resource utilization, and application usage.

Develops and maintains scripts for automating database deployments and updates.

Develops and maintains system and process documentation.

Performance tuning and troubleshooting complex issues.

Ensures creation of runbooks in the assembly, configuration and administration of the application database.

Enforces adherence to standards, policies, and procedures for managing databases.

Implements/manages Database User Security standards.

Subject Matter Expert for Oracle MongoDB and Postgres Infrastructure. 


Bachelor’s degree in MIS/IT, business administration, or related discipline.

Certified Oracle DBA a plus.

Experience as an Oracle MongoDB (mini, willing to learn is fine) and Postgres (good to have) DBA working with Oracle 10g and 11g on RHEL 5 and RHEL 6.

Experience supporting Oracle MongoDB and Postgres Data Guard; RAC is a plus.

MySQL DBA experience a plus.

Experience of SQL Performance Tuning for Oracle MongoDB and Postgres on Linux development and production environments.

Working knowledge of operating system internals (Shell scripting, monitoring, debugging) in Linux environments is required.

Experience with Oracle for Oracle Retail is highly desirable

Must be competent with converting logical data models into high performance physical designs.

Experience with data dictionary/repository tools.

Participation in large projects/deployments that require understanding of software development life cycle.

Experience working with computer hardware and software installation/upgrading procedures.

Experience working with database and system maintenance procedures.

Experience with technology and implementation planning and cost estimating experience.

Experience with creation of deliverable templates and standards.

Experience working with database creation techniques and database management systems (DBMS) features.

Experience working with database performance tuning.

Experience with automated database migration techniques.

Experience with Availability Disaster Recovery (HADR) environment.

Experience with Agile development methodologies is highly desirable.

Experience with virtualization in continuous integration environment is highly desirable.

Strong oral and written communication skills, collaboration and influencing skills

Strong organizational and technical skills. 


10+ years – don’t care for the #, but the ability to work on their own, hands-on, collaborative. 

Additional note from supplier call:

• Oracle, mongo, MySQL, SQL, need someone who can work through data base, upgrade oracle 11 to 12, use the monitoring tool New Relic (nice to have).

Open to teach the candidate the tool, open to have

• Good to have development background, but doesn’t need to do it much at the job.

• Oracle/MySQL/SQL servers

• Background is open, doesn’t have to be industrial.
